AFHA E-Newsletter - July 2011

AFHA AmeriCorps Volunteer Recognition Picnic will be held at Scott Hill in
Elkins, WV on August 12, 2011. Awards ceremony will begin at noon with a
cookout immediately after. Come join us in celebrating another amazing year
of AmeriCorps service in the AFHA!

Come out and welcome next year's AmeriCorps team with our fall red spruce
planting near Slatyfork, WV. Together with Plum Creek Timber we will plant
2000 native red spruce in the Monongahela National Forest. Check our

Have you seen the flowers growing in the tree planters that line the streets of
downtown Elkins? Elkins' City Attorney Geraldine Roberts led our AmeriCorps
members around the city making our downtown streets more beautiful than
ever!

Rich Mountain Battlefield came to life in the 150th Anniversary Reenactment of
this historic Civil War battle. AFHA AmeriCorps were out in force, ensuring
that all who attended were greeted, assisted, fed, and entertained!

Campground Conservation Education! AFHA has been making the rounds with
free water bottles and educational brochures. We've been visiting campers
and promoting conservation through education. We've also been recruiting
new volunteers for the MVP: Monongahela Volunteer Program! To learn more
